Stress vs Memory

Recent work on the neurogical underpinnings of cognitive deficits in the elderly bolsters yet another piece of traditional wisdom: too much stress makes you old before your time!

Memory, as we now know, is anything but a passive capacity. Many factor can influence whether we form a long term memory of a specific fact or event. One such factor is our emotional state : an emotionally- charged, stressful event will much more likely be remember than one that occurs in the absence of emotional arousal.
